Catch the bus to your autumn adventures

Norway has many beautiful autumn days. The leaves change its colour, the air is crisp, and there are still plenty of sunny days. Whether you’re heading off on an autumn holiday, planning a mountain getaway, or thinking of a city break, NOR-WAY has many great destinations you can reach by bus with us.

Explore autumn in the mountains by bus

Autumn is a wonderful season in the mountains. On the best days the fall colours are glowing in the sun, which still provides nice temperatures. Many of Norway’s most popular hikes can still be done in autumn, and the season is also great for trail biking. You can also fish in countless mountain lakes.

The NW180 Haukeliekspressen allows you to reach the mountain areas, with several great hiking options. The bus runs from Bergen in the west to Oslo in the east, crossing the beautiful Haukelifjell. Here you’ll find many great hiking opportunities, or you can relax at the DNT cabin Haukeliseter.

Trysil is by many associated by being a winter destination, but autumn is also a wonderful time to visit. The NW130 Trysilekspressen departs daily from Oslo, stopping at Oslo Airport Gardermoen and in Elverum on the way to Trysil.

Beitostølen is also a fantastic place to visit in autumn, and you can get there with the NW150. The bus departs from Oslo and stops in Fagernes. In both Beitostølen and Trysil, many people enjoy autumn activities such as fishing and trail biking.

City breaks by bus

Autumn is also a great time for a city trip. There’s plenty to do, and you can easily head indoors if the weather turns wet or chilly.

NOR-WAY Bussekspress has daily departures to several major cities, including Bergen, Stavanger, Kristiansand, and Oslo.

Speaking of Oslo: it's an excellent starting point — both for city experiences and for continuing your journey to other Norwegian destinations by bus. You can travel to Oslo with the NW150 from Valdres, the NW130 Trysilekspressen, the NW180 Haukeliekspressen, or the NW192 Konkurrenten from Southern Norway.

The west is the best by bus

You can travel to the west of Norway from Oslo with NW192 Konkurrenten. After a stop in Kristiansand, the route ends up in Stavanger. From here, you can continue your journey with the NW400 Kystbussen to Bergen.

Bergen is also a great destination and/or starting point — for both city experiences, further travel, and ski trips during the winter holidays. From Bergen, you can take the NW431 Fjordekspressen, for example to Førde, or the NW420 Sognefjordekspressen to Sogndal or Flåm.
